An animated illustration project featuring Santa Claus, where I created both the original character illustration and its animation. The work explores dynamic movement\u2014from subtle shifts and steps to full jumps\u2014emphasizing expressive anticipation and follow-through. The project demonstrates how illustration and motion combine to bring a playful character to life in a visually engaging way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. SHAKE!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case the whole move is provoked by head, then goes the shoulders and the rest of the body. Very important is the move of  the balls. It gives us the filling of shaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. SHAKE AND MOVE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case the whole move is provoked shoulders, then goes the head and the rest of the body. Balls are moving after taking the step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. JUMP<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case first thing to do is to anticipate, so the Santa has to move down before the jump. To show the expression of this move the segments of the ‘tree’ are moving up and down during the jump. The star on a hat is getting a little bit higher than the rest of the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. MEGA JUMP<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we can see the exaggerated image of the jump. Anticipation here is expressed by getting santa down in form of triangle. The segments of the ‘tree’ are moved really low and during the jump they spread. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timeline<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 – the differences between step and shake time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1st case the step is longer and shape is very fast. In 2nd case the step is fast and shake is longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
